Concept: Adobe and FedEx vs. The Printing IndustryAdobe Systems, Inc. and FedEx Corp. have produced unease in the printing industry. FedEx Corp., in an attempt to campaign the Kinko’s franchise, made a deal with software super giant Adobe Systems, Inc. In Adobe’s new versions of their popular Acrobat and Reader, the software includes a link to upload digital files directly to FedEx Kinko’s, where the files can either be printed for pick up or mailed to recipients. The National Association for Printing Leadership (NAPL) along with their international counterparts were outraged with the favored treatment in the newest software versions. Adobe representatives met with the NAPL and came to a compromise to immediately remove the link in their newest updates set to go out in October. The original version of Acrobat and Reader with the Kinko button will still be available for customers at the FedEx Kinko’s website.
