Concept:Google Purchasing Ads?A $900 Million deal with MySpace, owned by News Corp., makes Google the sole search provider for the popular social networking phenomenon and other recognized News Corp sites such as rottentomatoes.com, gamespy.com, americanidol.com, fox.com. With a reported 46 million unique visitors per month, 551 pages visited/person/month, 230,000 joining everyday and a yearly growth of 183%, MySpace has risen to number 2 of "Best Performing Websites of 2006" in the month of July, according to Adweek in September. "MySpace.com (or MySpace) is a free service that uses the Internet for online communication through an interactive network of photos, weblogs, user profiles, e-mail, web forums, and groups, as well as other media formats," wrote a Wikipedia.com source. MySpace creators Tom Anderson and Chris DeWolfe along with Intermix Media, previously known as eUniverse, designed the networking “place for friends” in 2003 with marketing on the mind. The creators recognized the marketing potential early on and began offering advertisement options with demographics specific to 15 – 35 year olds. In 2004, News Corp. Chairman and CEO, Rupert Murdoch purchased Intermix and all its site entities (MySpace included) at the bargain price of $580 Million. News Corp.’s Rupert Murdoch says he has big plans for the ever growing MySpace other than the Google Ad Merger. By negotiating deals with MTV to distribute video footage from the music station, websites, and blogs onto MySpace, Murdoch estimates that MySpace will lead the video market within the next 2-3 months.
