Concept:Google Purchasing Ads?

A $900 Million deal with MySpace, owned by News Corp., makes Google the sole search provider for the popular social networking phenomenon and other recognized News Corp sites such as rottentomatoes.com, gamespy.com, americanidol.com, fox.com. With a reported 46 million unique visitors per month, 551 pages visited/person/month, 230,000 joining everyday and a yearly growth of 183%, MySpace has risen to number 2 of "Best Performing Websites of 2006" in the month of July, according to Adweek in September.

"MySpace.com (or MySpace) is a free service that uses the Internet for online communication through an interactive network of photos, weblogs, user profiles, e-mail, web forums, and groups, as well as other media formats," wrote a Wikipedia.com source. MySpace creators Tom Anderson and Chris DeWolfe along with Intermix Media, previously known as eUniverse, designed the networking “place for friends” in 2003 with marketing on the mind. The creators recognized the marketing potential early on and began offering advertisement options with demographics specific to 15 – 35 year olds.  In 2004, News Corp. Chairman and CEO, Rupert Murdoch purchased Intermix and all its site entities (MySpace included) at the bargain price of $580 Million.

News Corp.’s Rupert Murdoch says he has big plans for the ever growing MySpace other than the Google Ad Merger. By negotiating deals with MTV to distribute video footage from the music station, websites, and blogs onto MySpace, Murdoch estimates that MySpace will lead the video market within the next 2-3 months.

Recipe:Refine Your Web Search

Do you have trouble finding exactly what you are looking for when you search the web? Try some of the universal search tools Noble Studios found to narrow your search and get the answer you are looking for a lot quicker:

  • Use the "Advanced Search Tools" – Most search engines have options available to customize your search.  If you are looking for something specific, this will lighten the search load.
  • Narrow to Location – If you are looking for a particular location/city/county/country/etc., concentrate your search.  Often larger search engines have "directories" that weed out sites not involved with the region specified. Ex: webdesign carson city nevada
  • Try out the Boolean Search – By using conjunctions such as AND, OR, NOT, all search engines will know whether to combine, choose, or exclude certain terms. Ex: webdesign NOT template
  • Plus and Minus – The + and – symbols can be very handy tools when searching the internet. The + symbol before any word will require the word to be on the page. The – symbol excludes the word. Ex: webdesign carson city nevada – template (this search will give you webdesign in carson city but exclude the word template)
  • Quotes, Parentheses, Brackets, or Braces?
    • Quotes around a precise phrase will find an exact match.
    • Brackets around a phrase will find a near match.
    • Braces around a phrase will find a distant match.

Noble Studios recently launched five complete logo packages and company websites for Northern Nevada Storage and their affiliate facilities. Noble Studios was commissioned to design a new logo for each of the Northern Nevada Storage companies as well as develop five interconnected sites that represent each of the storage facilities located throughout Northern Nevada. A custom content management system was created to manage all of the sites for easy up-to-date changes and property signage and billboards were included in this project. Phase two will be launched next month with added features including online bill pay.

Noble Studios recently attended the National Association of Government Webmasters (NAGW) Conference in Reno last week. The conference is held annually and offers government webmasters an opportunity to learn about nationwide practices and discover new technologies and services available in the web world. Noble Studios sponsored a booth and rubbed elbows with Google and other sponsors from across the globe. We look forward to implementing some of the great new technologies in future projects this year.
