Concept: Potty Mouths Have Positive Impact?

Professors in Norwich, Great Britain at the UEA-based Norwich Business School (NBS) discovered that the use of expletives in the work place actually promotes bonding among coworkers. According to the study, employees able to swear freely had cohesiveness, heightened sense of self expression, and a common way to release frustration easily.

“If everybody is happy with it, and we want our people to be happy, then we should be able to live with it," says Yehuda Baruch, a professor of management at the UEA.

Recipe: Translate that Tech-Term

In lieu of the holidays and New Year planning, we thought we could help with party dialogue by providing some technically savvy definitions. These will be quite handy while discussing those 2008 web marketing plans with colleagues. Here are some valuable terms:

URL: (Also referred to as domain name or web address) is the address that defines the route to a file on the Web or any other Internet facility.

ISP: An Internet service provider (abbr. ISP) is a business or organization that provides access to the Internet and related services. In the past, most ISPs were run by the phone companies. Now, ISPs can be started by just about any individual or group with sufficient money and expertise.

Broadband: Generally refers to connections to the Internet with much greater bandwidth (more than 2Mbps) than you can get with a modem. There is no specific definition of the speed of a "broadband" connection but in general any Internet connection using DSL or via Cable-TV may be considered a broadband connection.

Internet (web) Browser: Is a client program that knows how to interpret primarily HTML code and display text and graphics located on the World Wide Web. Examples: Microsoft’s Internet Explorer (IE), Mozilla’s Firefox, Safari, Opera, Netscape, AOL.

Hosting: Once your website is completed the site must be placed on a web "Server" (a computer which is permanently connected to the Internet). This means that your site can be accessed anywhere around the world at any time.

Client: Autodesk

Autodesk held their annual Autodesk University in Las Vegas at the end of November and showcased digital media that Noble Studios created. We have recently signed a non-disclosure agreement and retainer to design and develop web/desktop prototype applications. We will soon be able to disclose more to our readers in the coming weeks. Autodesk is one of the world leaders of 2D and 3D technologies that allow the consumer to visualize, simulate, and analyze the real-world performance of their ideas early in the design process. It is safe to say that the majority of the products built in the world today are pre-planned beforehand by using Autodesk software.

Grant CoulombeNoble Studios has a new addition. Grant Coulombe a 3D developer / animator raised in Reno, Nevada is the newest creative to join the growing Noble Studios team. He recently finished his certification program from Vancouver Film School and graduated second in his class for 3D animation and visual effects. He will be assisting the development team on many client projects.
